In the mid 60s, at age 12, Joe was profoundly impressed one evening when he saw Buddy Rich perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. Shortly afterward, his Dad purchased him a set of Stewart drums and Joe's relationship with the drum kit began.
His influences in the late 60s and through the 80s included Ginger Baker (Cream), Frank Beard (ZZ Top), and Neil Peart (Rush), all three piece bands. As a snare drummer in an army bugle band and several groups since, his grasp of the fundementals and techniques of percussion have led to his style today. Over the years, Blues has taken its grip on Joe. Although his early interests evolved around Rock and Roll, the roots of that great music were found in the blues. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and, more recently, bands like the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Papa Chubby have shaped his style.
As a component of this three piece band, drums, like the other two instruments (guitar and bass), must bring a variety of styles to the body of the music.
Joe who is known to the band's fans as WOODY, was born and raised in Quebec City and has worked and lived across Canada. The last 20 years have been spent in Dryden, Ontario.
